About Pagemint

Free PDF tools that stay on your device.

Pagemint is a free set of 30 PDF tools for everyday jobs: merging contracts, shrinking a file for email, signing a form, or pulling text out of a scan. We built it because most people need these tools once in a while, and should not have to create an account or hand over a confidential document to use them.

How it works

Every tool runs in your web browser. When you add a file, it is read from your device into the page, processed there, and offered back as a download. The file is not sent to Pagemint. The libraries that do the work are hosted on this site itself, so using a tool does not call any third-party service.

What powers the tools

Pagemint is built on well-known open-source software: pdf-lib for editing page structure, PDF.js for rendering, qpdf (compiled to WebAssembly) for encryption, Tesseract for OCR, SheetJS for Excel, mammoth.js for Word documents, PptxGenerator and jsPDF for creating files.

What we are upfront about

Browser-based tools have limits. Conversions between PDF and Word, Excel or PowerPoint keep text and basic structure but cannot always recreate complex layouts; OCR currently recognises English; and passwords cannot be recovered or cracked. Each tool page spells out what it keeps and what it does not, so you can choose the right tool before you start. See the FAQ for more.
