What is Split PDF?

A single PDF sometimes carries more than it should — a full report when you only need chapter three, or a scanned bundle of documents that really belongs in separate files. Splitting breaks one PDF apart into smaller, independent files along the page ranges you define.

You can split by fixed page ranges, extract every page as its own file, or pull out just the pages you select. The result downloads as either individual PDFs or a single zip, depending on how many pieces you create.

How to split pdf in 3 steps

1

Upload your PDF

Choose the file you want to split. Its pages appear as thumbnails so you can see exactly what you're working with.

2

Choose your split points

Select individual pages, define fixed ranges, or split every page into its own file — whichever fits the task.

3

Download the pieces

Each resulting file is packaged and ready to download in seconds, as separate PDFs or one zip archive.

When to use it

Teachers split a full semester's worksheet packet into individual weekly handouts. Legal assistants pull a single exhibit out of a long case file without disturbing the original document.

Publishers separate a multi-chapter manuscript into per-chapter files for individual review, and accountants extract one month's statement from a year-long combined PDF.

Tip: If you're not sure exactly where to split yet, use PDF Reader first to review the page thumbnails, note down the page numbers you need, then come back and split by that exact range.

Split PDF – frequently asked questions

Can I split a PDF into more than two files?

Yes — you can define as many ranges as you like, or split every single page into its own file.

What happens to the original file?

It's untouched. Splitting creates new files from a copy; your original PDF is not modified.

Can I preview the pages before splitting?

Yes, thumbnails of every page are shown so you can choose split points visually.

Will I get one file or several?

You choose — download each piece as a separate PDF, or as one zip file containing all of them.

Does splitting reduce file size?

Each resulting piece will naturally be smaller than the original, since it contains fewer pages.

Is my file uploaded to a server?

No. Split PDF runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device. Pagemint has no accounts and does not store your documents.

Is Split PDF free?

Yes. Split PDF is free to use, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit.
