What is Compare PDF?
When two versions of a contract or report look almost the same, finding what changed by eye is slow and error-prone. Add both files and see them side by side: words that were removed or changed are marked in red on the original, words that were added or changed are marked in green on the new file.
You can also switch on a visual difference overlay that highlights pixels that differ, which helps catch changes in images, layout or numbers inside graphics. Everything runs in your browser.
How to compare pdf in 3 steps
Add both PDFs
Choose the original in the first box and the changed version in the second.
Review the changes
A summary shows how many words changed and on which pages. Use the page arrows or click a page in the list.
Check visually
Tick the visual difference box to highlight changed areas in orange.
Good to know: Pages are matched by page number. If a page was inserted, later pages will show as changed.
When to use it
Common uses are reviewing a revised contract, checking an updated report against the previous version, or verifying that a re-exported PDF still matches its source.
Tip: scanned PDFs contain no text to compare, so run them through OCR PDF first.

Compare PDF – frequently asked questions
How does the text comparison work?
Each page is read word by word and compared with the same page of the other file. Words only in the first file are shown in red, words only in the second in green.
What if the files have different page counts?
Pages are matched by number. Extra pages appear as entirely added or removed, and the summary notes the difference.
Does it compare scanned documents?
Not the text, because scans are images. Use the visual difference overlay, or run OCR PDF on both files first.
Is my file uploaded to a server?
No. Compare PDF runs in your browser, so the file stays on your device. Pagemint has no accounts and does not store your documents.
Is Compare PDF free?
Yes. Compare PDF is free to use, with no signup, no watermark and no daily limit.
